BS, Chemistry, University of San Francisco, 1975

Biography

I am a research professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a dual appointment with the Utah Water Research Laboratory. I also serve as the manager for the Environmental Quality Laboratory at the UWRL.

Teaching Interests

Environmental Quality Analysis, Environmental Chemistry of Inorganics, Sophomore Seminar

Research Interests

My research program encompasses biogeochemical processes in natural and engineered systems with application to the behavior of pollutants in soil and water environments. Current research areas include investigating: microbial processes controlling arsenic release to groundwater from bioremediation and stormwater systems, plant-microbial-soil interactions as affected by nanoparticles of silver and the oxides of copper and zinc, and fate and behavior of pharmaceuticals and personal care products and PFAS in planted systems irrigated with reclaimed wastewater.
